The Lion King 1½ (2004)
Given the original title of "Hakuna Matata", The Lion King 1½ is... well, nobody is entirely certain what it is. To
some, it's a tongue-in-cheek parody of the original film, and to others, a sacrilegious spoof of the TLK magic. Opinions aside, in 1½, Timon and Pumbaa
re-tell the original Lion King story from their perspective, in a tongue-in-cheek Mystery Science Theater
way.
Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella reprise their roles as Timon and Pumbaa.
The film was nominated for ten DVD-release awards, and won six, including an Annie Award for Best Home Entertainment
Production, and several DVD Exclusive Awards including Best Animated Character Performance, Best Animated DVD
Premiere Movie, Best Director of a DVD Premiere Movie, Best Editing of a DVD Premiere Movie, and Best Screenplay of
a DVD PremiereMovie.
